The Aniak River is listed as one of the "top waters for rainbow trout" in the July/August issue of Alaska Magazine. The article is entitled "Always Chasing Rainbows".

Renowned fisherwoman Cecilia "Pudge" Kleinkauf names the Aniak River as one of six of Alaska's best fly fishing destinations in her book "Fly Fishing Women Explore Alaska". In it's April 2006 issue, Alaska Magazine relates how Pudge has "a soft spot in her heart for the Aniak River system. This prolific playground responds to fly-fishing with a healthy variety of over-sized beauties."
